Quite possibly the ugliest album/CD covers I've seen in a long
long time,but the music inside it makes up for it. It's mostly made
up of the mid to late 50's very early 60's rockabilly/ rock from
Imperial Records, Capitol, and Liberty Records Stable-o-Stars.
It's not a bad batch of stuff,either. Well, not as good as the out
pouring of love for Wanda Jackson, you guys loved her in the
last post, and I'm glad. I could not stop playing her music, and I
think I actually forced at least 10 people to go out and find her
music. I guess that was the point.
This new set of rockabilly 3 volumes worth should also spin
in your players just as much. There's a good bunch of tunes,
that aren't the most obvious choices for compilations, and that's
what I really like, these are a little more obscure songs, and I have
to admit, I actually prefer hearing the artists more obscure works.
I don't wanna hear Buddy Knox's "Party Doll", or the big hits of
Ricky Nelson, or Eddie Cochran's massive hits, I think the lesser
known tracks are never played on radio,and are always a sweet
surprise. The idea is to dig for the other music, and not just get off
on the radio played hit. These artists are not one trick ponies, and
there's no such thing as over night success. So if your ears are open,
to this, you're going to be a happy camper with this series of
Red Hot Rockabilly 1,2,3. Enjoy 'em!
Happy Mother's Day Fujiyama Mama. This is the real shit! This
release contains her strongest tracks, and all 18 of them will convert
your miserable soul to rockabilly music, and those good girls gone bad.
Never mind that sleepy old timey album cover, what's inside is where it's at mister. She's a real rockabilly/country shouter and make sure you listen to these tracks or else! Rock Your Baby, You're The One For Me, Cool Love, Hot Dog! That Made Him Mad, Mean Mean Man, Baby Loves Him, and of course, Dona 'a Wan 'a. Oh sorry I've been a bad blogger lately. I had a computer
virus take out 2 terabytes of my life. I'm sure I'll be back soon
with more Buffalo Bops(when I find them again) but surely moreRockabilly,Doo Wop and good Rock and Roll. I just wish them
kids would get a real job instead of planting viruses making our
lives difficult and costly.
I know, I know it's time to get a Mac, don't tell me,I already
know it. After listening to this wonderful release drop me a line,

18 tracks of Wanda's country-rock album from 1958,and has the making
of things to come,when she delivers the real shouter "Rockin' With Wanda"
less than a couple of years later, and makes cool rock and roll history by
combing rockabilly and country, sung "by a girl". Boy it was time to put her
into The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame so people would appreciate her finally.
At least her name's out there,and the regular folks who don't know her
might just buy her records, and give it a chance.
This is long overdue,so listen to the music that made her the coolest chick!
There's nothing as cool as her voice, it's as unique as say, Howlin' Wolf's
incredible untrained voice, and it's unmistakeably Wanda Jackson. It's
highly addictive and there's no one really like her!

I really stink as a blogger, letting all of you rockabilly fans go
alone without something. So here's a taste of some other rockabilly
music from another label so much like Buffalo Bop.They raid the
vaults,and give you 35 tracks! Yow! And when I find more of these I'll
sure post 'em. (as long as I'm not hurtin' anyone's feelings)
Look at the cover of this release, and who do you see? Look at those
three guys leaning on that car! Scotty Moore,Bill Black who largely
run this label,and play on many of the tracks...and....
who's in the middle,but Elvis. That should tell you what you're going
to get, some rockabilly music from the Fernwood label and the
Memphis area. Oh, sure some of the bands might be from across
the state line, or a state or two over, but largely your getting music
that was 1956 Memphis in it's rockabilly heyday buzzing days.
Some of the bands released tracks as late as
1965, but they didn't know what year it was, and they must
have been living in a bomb shelter,or never wanted to know Beatlemania
took over. Shh,don't tell them,otherwise you'd never hear this great stuff.

27 Tracks from Rome Records 1960-1962 Doo Wop from the
DJ Jamboree label,
which is a side label from Buffalo Bop. In the
tradition of my Buffalo Bop posts, this is but another one that I
have not posted yet. I wasn't sure if my dear readers would groove
to the sounds of Doo Wop music at all, but give it a try. It does sound
old fashioned to most people,but some things just might actually grow
on you after listening to them. It's super rare music in the same tradition
of the usual Buffalo Bop rockabilly, and I will feature more of these as
I find them,I'll post 'em. Thanks loyal supporters,the link is in the

Okay,I know I haven't been posting much lately. But sometimes
you get busy with work ,and life, and other things. But fear not, I'm
not really gone, I'm still here. Just have things to do! At least I have this
one ready to go, and don't worry,I'll be back. I have more rockabilly
to share. This volume is one of the best in the series of Buffalo Bops,
and is yet another 30 fantastic tracks of original rock from the 50's.
Some of it even early 60's. The one track that stands out, is Sonny
Flaharty doing a track called My Baby's Casual. There's no evidence
yet that says yes or no, but that could very well be the same Sonny
Flaharty that recorded the awesome 60's garage tune " Hey Conductor".
I'm still not sure, internet does not tell me for sure if he was an early
rocker from the 50's,but his voice surely says yes to me. Sounds like
the same dude. But that's not the only highlight here. There's 29 more
awesome rockabilly rock tracks to sink your teeth into. And I've also

I bought this photo at a music convention,many years
ago,and the seller told me he took this photo of Buddy Holly
at a show in either Wisconsin or Minnesota in 1959. I couldn't
remember which show. The photographer is Timothy D. Kehr,
and I tried to call him but the phone number was changed,so I could
not ask permission to post this photo. Well, hopefully he won't be
too angry at me for posting it. But I think the photo should be seen,and
shared with other music fanatics. I guess Tim was a young teen
when he snapped this wonderful photo! I proudly display this
photo framed around some other photos of Buddy's fans,so
they can all hang out together.
I love this picture, especially the way Buddy holds his guitar close.
"I gotta switchblade and I'm gonna cut you".The cover looks
menacing,but the music inside follows no theme other than more
highly charged 50's rockabilly rock, by the original artists and released
on small independent labels.That's how a lot of great songs come from.
From people who believe in them well enough they take it upon themselves
and record and produce it themselves.Either the record company doesn't
believe in what they're doing,or the bands are making this music in their
basements and garages in obscurity,and have no need for those record
labels.After all, if you read about bands,and artists especially in the
1950's, the labels were the power = the owners.
And all these talented musicians would get virtually a penny per sale
of their recordings. These bands are not well known, so they sank
into obscurity, and became "collectibles". Buffalo Bop is the
company that doesn't want you to forget these bands,and makes the
music come alive again.The wonderful thing is, you hear the single as it
came off the vinyl, with no foolish noise reduction, which strips the
sound of the recording of it's nuances, and raw beauty, it's charm
and appeal. Again, another compilation with no theme, is just more
rare rockabilly in my book. The highlighted tracks are: Pink Shoes,
Teenage Baby, Ready To Go Steady,
Tuff-E-Nuff Baby, Fluffy Dog, Study Hall Blues, Grandpa's Rock,
Stompin' To The Beat, Pinch Me Quick, and My Little Jewel.
Get it while you can in the comments and remember kids,
switchblades are illegal in several states, but they make fine
finger nail cleaners.
